NECK and UPPER BACK PAIN
Most neck and upper back pains are caused by either chronic poor
posture, muscular skeletal injuries, chiropractic subluxations, disc problems,
stress or other complicating factors. A professional diagnosis of
what is causing the pain is the first step in a proper treatment
program.
The neck is very susceptible to injury
as it supports the head, a relatively heavy structure. It performs
this delicate balancing act by the use of
small, thin, elastic bands and it really doesn’t take very much force or
pressure to disrupt this
delicate balance. This then can lead to acute and/or chronic pain,
stiffness or other discomforts. Neck problems may also cause or
contribute to headaches, muscle spasms in the shoulders and upper back, joint dysfunction,
restricted ranges of motion and tight muscles or pain in the neck and upper
back regions.
Neck and upper back
pain are often caused by automobile or other accidents. These
often involve whiplash, which is caused by a sudden movement of the head,
either backward,
forward or sideways. This can result in damage to the supporting
muscles or other delicate areas. Symptoms do not always appear
immediately after an accident or injury and any pain or discomfort in
these parts of the body should be checked out by a professional as early
as possible. Please call or contact or office should you
experience neck, upper or lower back pain.
