Treatment of Subluxations
SUBLUXATIONS - What are they and what
can they do to you?
Vertebral subluxation is a
misalignment of the spine (bones out of place). It's a term commonly used by chiropractors to describe signs and symptoms
of problems within the spinal column. It's a dysfunctional biomechanical spinal segment
or lesion and the dysfunction may actively alter neurological function.
This, in turn, may lead to neuromusculoskeletal pain and other
visceral disorders.
In simple terms, a subluxation is
when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of
position. This then can create pressure on or otherwise
irritate your spinal nerves, which are the nerves that come out from
between each of the bones in your spine. The pressure or irritation
on the nerves can cause them to malfunction and interfere with the
signals traveling over them.
Chiropractic physicians locate
subluxations and can help to correct or reduce them, thereby
minimizing or eliminating pain or discomfort. We do this
through a series of chiropractic adjustments specifically designed
to correct the vertebral subluxations in your spine. Chiropractors
undergo years of specialized training to locate, treat and correct
subluxations.
